Couples & Family Therapy

Who It Helps

  • Couples and families who feel stuck in patterns and want to understand why conflict keeps happening — as well as how to shift it
  • Couples and families who want support that goes deeper than surface-level skills
  • Couples and families who are navigating:
    • Communication breakdowns, conflict, or emotional distance

    • The impact of trauma, stress, or past experiences on the relationship

    • Parenting challenges or ongoing tension in the home

    • Life transitions, grief, or major changes affecting the family system

    • Cycles of reactivity, shutdown, or misattunement

How It Works

Our approach to couples and family therapy is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS): a powerful, evidence-based model that helps each person understand the parts of themselves that show up in relationships. Instead of blaming or defending, IFS allows partners and family members to communicate from a place of calm, clarity, and compassion.

Sessions are collaborative, paced carefully, and focused on helping everyone feel heard and understood. When appropriate, canine-assisted counseling can be incorporated to support emotional regulation for children and families, creating a calming and grounding presence in the room.

As a trauma-focused practice, our work in couples and family therapy centers on the nervous system, attachment patterns, and relational repair — helping each member feel safer, more connected, and more capable of supporting one another.

    Benefits

    • Break reactive cycles and create healthier communication

    • Understand yourself and your loved ones with greater clarity

    • Reduce conflict, emotional shutdown, or defensiveness

    • Strengthen trust, connection, and emotional intimacy

    • Repair the impact of trauma, stress, or past hurt on the relationship

    • Improve co-parenting dynamics and household harmony

    • Help children regulate emotions through optional canine-assisted sessions

    What to Expect

Session length is flexible and shaped by the needs of the individuals or family system. Some sessions naturally extend longer during deeper relational work, parts work (IFS), or conflict repair. For families navigating complex dynamics, trauma histories, or high-conflict patterns, we also offer intensive-format family sessions, allowing for extended or multiple weekly sessions to support meaningful progress.

You’ll learn practical tools rooted in IFS, trauma-informed care, and relational repair, and together, we’ll build a safer emotional foundation for your relationships to thrive.
